Moments in Monochrome (2021), sugar has been transformed into an art medium, which is contrasted by the black background. The sugar symbolises the sweet fleeting moments while also a symbol of light against the dark (black background) in the work. The black background contrasts with the sugar, pushing a more existentialistic concept to the artwork. Sugar dissolves in water quickly, and its effects on our bodies are quick- which, within the artwork, invites the viewer to savour life’s moments that don’t last long.

The sugar and the black pattern are quite repetitive, which creates an iterative work. Each section represents a different moment and a different time of life. This, therefore, helps to allow the artwork to create a feel of temporality. Our lives are fragile and do not last forever, so we must savour our moments and our own histories.

Lines of Growth (2021) takes sugar further by applying it to paper, exploring transformation and personal growth. As sugar decays over time, this personal growth can only go so far- implying that our paths are fragile and that we must be wise in these paths. The textured paper with lines that make the sugar fall could represent the uncertainty that one can fall from growth in life. The pattern of this texture also implies a lack of control over where we choose, as every path has a fall.
These elements in the work imply to the viewer that they must reflect on their own paths and where they will end up. Our decisions, achievements, and moments shape our lives and create our own growth and personalities.

Kind of Blue (2025) is an abstract representation of the Mediterranean Sea- the painting is filled with shades of blue layered upon each other with the occasional whites. The layering of the blue creates movement in the painting, which mimics the movement of the waves in the Mediterranean, while the whites are the splashes and crashes of these waves. The darker blues are the much deeper parts of the sea, adding depth to the composition; these elements bring about the memories of times around the Mediterranean Sea (and for the viewer, it could evoke similar memories around different seas).
The Mediterranean in this work seems to serve as a place of longing, as Pintová’s depiction and description of it seem more universal rather than grounded in one location. Just as the sea itself, the painting and its meaning are fluid and create a meditative value in which one will become one with the waves for peace and to remember.
