Contemporary: “belonging to or occurring in the present” with “super” to bring it closer to our time within this decade (or the last ten years). Supercontemporary is an virtual/online exhibition mixed with a publication to celebrate the works of living artists creating within our time.
The exhibition will be hosted on our gallery site and promoted on social media (Instagram and LinkedIn). The publication (“Super Contemporary” will be the seventh issuance of the Material Issue) will be created, printed and sent to participating artists. We will sell a limited number of these issues through our website store. Please see the shipping section for information on how much you will receive.
You will also appear in our virtual exhibition (an exhibition building in VR or the “meta”-verse).
Successful Participants:
All successful participants will receive a copy of the publication (or multiple copies [see SHIPPING section below]) sent to their address. They will also have their submitted work published in our publication and online exhibition on Meta Space Gallery’s website and through a virtual exhibition setting.
Fees:
There are no submission fees for this opportunity.
Participation Fee:
You must pay £25 (the base fee for up to 3 artworks) if accepted.
If you have submitted more than 3 artworks and have had more than 3 artworks accepted, you must pay £6.50 for each artwork after the third. [3 extra artworks would require you to pay £19.50 more]. We give you the option to choose how many works you want in the publication after you’ve been accepted if you would rather show less than we’ve accepted if you change your mind.
The participation fee helps pay for the printing cost and shipping costs. We also have to pay for our web servers, hosting and other costs accrued by the gallery.
Interview Fee:
If you want an interview in the publication, you will pay per page of the interview used. It costs £6.50 per page, and we will only charge after the interview. You can remove parts to reduce the cost if it uses more pages than you want.
Shipping:
Every successful artist will receive at least one copy. You can receive more copies for free if you pay a higher fee- see here: https://metaspacegallery.co.uk/2024/11/23/fee-levels-and-multiple-copies/
Please get in touch with us if you wish to acquire multiple copies. International artists may have to pay delivery costs if their participation fee cannot pay for this (see the fee levels page provided above).
Publication Quality:
The publication is A4, perfect-bound with 200gsm inside and 350gsm cover paper. The publication will be printed around the 6th of February and shipped off around the 10th to the 14th of February. If there are delays in shipping, we will let you know immediately.
Here are some examples of our previous publications: https://metaspacegallery.co.uk/previous-publications/
We request you view that page to understand the opportunity and how other artists have felt about it.
Online and Virtual Exhibition:
The exhibition will be held from the 7th of February to the 21st of February 2025. The exhibition is held online on our website and in a virtual space.
